Basically people noticed that on Amazon there's a couple of hardcover Steven Universe books available for pre-order: one looks like it's going to be an activity book for kids, but the other one's a guidebook to the world of the Crystal Gems. They even had an interview about it to promote it (http://io9.com/steven-universe-guidebook-spills-the-secrets-of-the-cry-1704470546). And now people are really suspicious of Pearl because she's the one that we "[know] the least about at this point."
Even though it's only one line, there seems like lately Pearl has been shown to have a lot of shit hidden underneath. Rose's Scabbard made her seem like she's PTSD-torn war veteran, and now this episode has her like this:
